This VCM model comparison puts CF-Device’s 14 VCM rugged vehicle tablets and the screenless TANK V2 side by side on the specifications that decide whether a unit fits a machine: CAN channels, camera inputs, supply voltage, sealing, operating system and size. Every figure comes from the model’s datasheet. Where a datasheet does not list a value, this page says “not listed” rather than guessing, so confirm those with CF-Device before you specify the unit.
TL;DR
- Supply voltage splits the range: 5–36V DC on eight models, 9–36V DC on seven
- Most CAN channels: up to four on the V12 PRO, S10-2 PRO, S10-2 PLUS and TANK V2, but each has a pin-sharing condition
- Most cameras: eight AHD inputs on the M10, S10-2 PLUS, S10-2 PRO and V12 PRO; the older models use two analog or AHD inputs
- IP67 on the V10-2, V12 PRO and V12-2; IP65 elsewhere, with IP67 as a custom option on the V7-2 and V7A-2
- Dual Android and Linux on eleven models; Android only on the V10 PRO, V12, V8 PRO and V7 PRO

All models list 750 cd/m² brightness and −30°C to +70°C operating temperature. Read the sections below before relying on a headline number, because several figures carry conditions.
CAN Channels by Model, and What They Share Pins With
Four models list up to four CAN channels, and they are not equivalent. The V12 PRO can run all four together with its Gigabit Ethernet port, because CAN3 and CAN4 sit on their own pins. The S10-2 PRO loses its Ethernet port when all four CAN channels are enabled. The S10-2 PLUS carries a datasheet warning that full CAN conflicts with Ethernet. The TANK V2 offers two classic CAN and two CAN FD channels, but CAN4 excludes the third RS232 port.
Three models have three channels: the V12-2 and V7-2 (two classic plus one CAN FD) and the V10-2 (two as standard and a third optional, which excludes RS485). The V7A-2, M10, V7 PRO and S7 have two; the V12 and V8 PRO have one; and the S10-2 has one or two. The V10 PRO datasheet does not list a channel count. CAN FD is listed only on the V12-2, V7-2 and TANK V2. The protocol side is in CAN bus and J1939 integration, and the serial ports in RS232 vs RS485.
Camera Inputs by Model
Camera count depends on resolution and on camera type. The M10 supports eight AHD inputs, all at 1080p if needed. The S10-2 PRO supports up to eight in three combinations (1080P×4 plus 720P×4, 720P×8, or 1080P×2 and 1080P×4). The V12 PRO supports 1080P×6, 720P×8 or 720P×4 plus 1080P×4, and its two decoder groups cannot be mixed freely. The S10-2 PLUS supports up to eight (720P×4 plus 1080P×4, or 1080P×6). The V10-2 starts at two AHD and expands to four by using OUTPUT3 and INPUT2.
The oldest platforms use analog inputs: the S10-2 and S7 are CVBS, not AHD. The V10 PRO, V12, V8 PRO and V7 PRO datasheets are inconsistent about the camera type (AHD in the datasheet, CVBS on the pin definition), and CF-Device is still confirming it, so check against your cameras. AVM 360° surround view is listed on ten models (all of the above except the V10 PRO, V12, V8 PRO, V7 PRO and S7); DMS and forward collision warning are listed only on the M10. The software side is in AVM 360° surround view.
Supply Voltage by Model
Wide-voltage DC input is standard across the range, but the lower limit differs. 5–36V: M10, S10-2, S10-2 PLUS, S10-2 PRO, V12 PRO, V7-2, V7A-2 and TANK V2. 9–36V: V10-2, V10 PRO, V12-2, V12, V8 PRO, V7 PRO and S7. For a 12V vehicle that sags under cranking, the 5V models have more margin; for 24V machines both groups cover the range. Over-voltage, under-voltage and reverse-polarity protection are listed per model, so check the datasheet. Ignition detection is listed on the models whose datasheets cover it, and the power design behind it is covered in our rugged vehicle tablet hardware buyer’s guide.
IP Rating and Salt Spray by Model
Three models are IP67: the V10-2, V12 PRO and V12-2. The V7-2 and V7A-2 are IP65 as standard with IP67 as a custom option. The rest are IP65. A 48-hour salt-spray result is listed for eight models: M10, S10-2 PLUS, S10-2 PRO, V10-2, V12 PRO, V12-2, V7-2 and V7A-2. It is not listed for the S10-2, V10 PRO, V12, V8 PRO, V7 PRO, S7 and TANK V2, so ask CF-Device before using one of those at a coastal site. What the ratings mean is in IP65 vs IP67.
Operating System by Model
Eleven models list both Android and Linux: the M10 (Android 14 and Linux 6.1), the S10-2 PLUS, S10-2 PRO, V10-2, V12 PRO, V12-2, V7-2, V7A-2 and TANK V2 (Android 11 and Linux 5.10), and the S10-2 and S7 (Android 6.0.1 and Linux 3.10). The V10 PRO, V12, V8 PRO and V7 PRO are Android 9 only, with no Linux option. The Android-against-Linux decision is covered in the 10-inch Android and Linux hub.
Cellular and Ethernet by Model
5G: listed on the M10, V12 PRO, V12-2, V7-2, V7A-2, TANK V2 and S10-2 PRO, and as an option on the S10-2 PLUS. 4G only: S10-2, S7, V10 PRO, V12, V8 PRO and V7 PRO. The V10-2 has dual-SIM, dual-channel 4G, and dual SIM is optional on the V7 PRO. Ethernet: the M10 has a dual port (automotive-grade Gigabit plus 10/100); the V12 PRO, V12-2, V7-2 and TANK V2 have Gigabit; the rest have 100M, optional on the S10-2, S7 and V7 PRO. The port conditions are in automotive Ethernet explained.

| TANK V2 | 203.52 × 126.56 × 55.5 | 0.69 kg | F |
Harness groups matter when you swap models: units in the same group can share a harness, units in different groups cannot, and plugging a harness into the wrong group can damage the hardware. Group C (S10-2, S10-2 PRO, S10-2 PLUS, V10-2, V7A-2) is the widest; group B (V8 PRO, V10 PRO A-2, V12) is the second. The V7-2 is group D even though it also has a 26-pin connector.
What the Datasheets Do Not List
Several items are not on every datasheet and should be confirmed before you order: the V10 PRO’s CAN channel count; SIM configuration on most single-SIM models; Wi-Fi band on the V10 PRO, V12 and V8 PRO; the GNSS constellations on several models; over-voltage and reverse-polarity protection on the older models; and ISOBUS VT on the M10. CF-Device would rather you ask than assume.
